This website is run by Scrap My Car Today Limited, a scrap car buyer covering Manchester and the surrounding areas. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Scrap My Car Today Limited. We are the controller of the personal information described below.

The information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us when you use our online valuation form, our contact form, or contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email. This can include:
- your name, phone number and email address
- the postcode where your vehicle is kept
- vehicle details such as the registration, make, model, year, mileage and condition
- anything else you tell us in your message
How we use your information
- to give you a valuation for your vehicle and reply to your enquiry
- to arrange and carry out the collection of your vehicle
- to complete the paperwork needed when a vehicle is scrapped, including payment and the Certificate of Destruction
- to meet our legal obligations, for example records that scrap metal dealers must keep
We will never sell your information or use it for marketing without your permission.
Our lawful basis
We use your information because you have asked us to provide a valuation or service, which is necessary to take steps towards a contract with you. Where we must keep records by law, we rely on our legal obligations.
Where we keep it
Enquiries sent through our website are stored securely on our web server so our team can reply and keep track of them. Each enquiry includes the details you entered, the time it was sent and your internet address, which helps us stop spam.
Who we share it with
We only share your information where we need to, with:
- SMTP2GO, the email service that delivers form submissions to our inbox
- our website hosting provider
- the Authorised Treatment Facility that processes your vehicle, and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency where required by law
These organisations may only use your information to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries that do not lead to a collection for up to twelve months. Where we buy a vehicle, we keep the records we are required to keep by law for as long as the law requires.
Cookies and third party services
We may use Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta to understand how people find and use our website and to measure our adverts. These tools only set cookies if you choose Accept in our cookie banner, and you can change your mind by clearing your browser's stored data for this site.
To show where an enquiry came from, our website remembers how you first arrived, for example from a Google advert, and includes this with any form you send. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts and a scrolling script from a public content delivery network, which means your browser connects to those services and shares your internet address with them.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to ask for it to be transferred. To make a request, email scrapmycartoday26@gmail.com.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
